2009 NFL AFC Conference Pro Football Playoff Race

Through 12 weeks of NFL pro football play the playoff picture has started to take some form as we now have just 5 games remaining in the season for each team. As the pro football season begins to wind down a resource for coverage will be found at NFL Picks with coverage from a sports betting perspective of select games all the way up until the Super Bowl. In the AFC East the New England Patriots hold a firm grip of the division sitting at 7-3 on the season. The team has been very successful within the division with a 3-1 mark on the season. Both the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets sit at 5-6 records on the season and are still in the mix for a wildcard spot sitting just 1 game behind the 6-5 teams. Buffalo has a long road for a post-season spot at 4-7 on the season. The team is in a difficult spot in tie breaking formulas with a 2-6 record against the AFC this season. In the AFC North the Cincinnati Bengals hold a firm grip on the division at 8-3 this season. At http://nflpicks.tv we project the Cincinnati Bengals as divisions champions. But a season ending injury to wide receiver Chris Henry has impacted the offense. The Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers are tied for the last wildcard spot at the moment with 6-5 records. The Ravens won the first meeting between these clubs at home in week 12 and still must face Pittsburgh on the road this season. Cleveland is hopelessly behind at 1-10 on the year. Over in the AFC South the Indianapolis Colts have been the first team to clinch a playoff spot sitting at a perfect 11-0 on the season. The team holds a 3 game lead with 5 games to play for home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Based on the first 12 weeks of the season NFL Picks would make the Colts a favorite to make the Super Bowl. Jacksonville is lodged in a three-way tie for the final wildcard spot at 6-5 on the season. The Jaguars are 5-2 against AFC opponents and holds the tiebreaker advantage with the rest of the 6-5 teams at this point. At this time http://nflpicks.tv would project the Pittsburgh Steelers to earn a playoff spot based on an easier schedule down the stretch. The Texans are a game behind for the last wildcard spot at 5-6. The Texans are finally in position to battle for a playoff spot as the season nears closure. The team has been involved in many close decisions this year. Tennessee Titans have won 5 straight games to get back into the playoff race at 5-6 this season. After a 0-2 start to the season the Titans have battled back to sit 1 game behind of a playoff spot. The Titans would have major issues in tiebreakers as they sit with a 3-6 record against AFC opponents. Out in the AFC West the San Diego Chargers are sitting with an 8-3 record on the season. They have enjoyed an easy 4 games beating both Kansas City and Oakland twice on the years and in week 13 travels to hapless Cleveland. Sitting in second place and currently holding the 1st wildcard playoff spot is the Denver Broncos at 7-4. At this time http://nflpicks.tv would project Denver making the playoffs this season. The Broncos currently hold a 5-3 record against the AFC so the Broncos cannot afford any more losses to AFC opponents. They could drop a game against an NFC team and not get hurt in the tie breaking formula. Both the Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders sit far behind at 3-8 on the season and are assured of a non-winning season. A good resource is NFL Picks for pro football selections tailored for the sports betting public.

2009 NFL NFC East Super Bowl Race Pro Football Odds Sports Betting Preview

Through the first six weeks of the NFC East race the New York Giants sit atop the division with a 5-1 record. NFL odds makers have the New York Giants currently at 10-3 odds to win the NFC Championship. Many handicappers who release NFL free picks are most apt to play the New York Giants as an underdog based on their 15-6 record against the spread record when getting points. As the lead handicapper for http://nflfreepicks.net you can follow the selections every week from the NFL. That makes the team the third favorite to make the Super Bowl from the NFC with the New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings ahead of the Giants at this point of the season. The Giants suffered their first loss of the year dropping a 48-27 loss at New Orleans Saints. The New York Giants are now a full 2 games behind the Saints for the chase for best record in the NFC. The Philadelphia Eagles are in second place in the NFC East with a 3-2 record this season. The Eagles also suffered a loss on the season to the New Orleans Saints in week number 2 also giving up 48 points to the high flying team from the Bayou Country. The Eagles are coming off a very bad loss to the Oakland Raiders losing 13-9 in Oakland in week 6 as a 14-point favorite. The current odds reveal after week six with the Philadelphia Eagles 7-1 odds to make the Super Bowl at the moment. A strategy I have employed when playing on the Philadelphia Eagles at NFL free picks is to play on them in road situations getting points against NFC East division rivals. Sitting with the bye week and at 3-2 on the season after six weeks are the Dallas Cowboys. At http://nflfreepicks.net we have had selections on two Dallas Cowboys games this season. The Cowboys have losses thus far in the season to the NFC East leading New York Giants and the Denver Broncos. The Cowboys have wins over bad teams on the season with their three wins coming over the Kansas City Chiefs, Carolina Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After five games this season the Cowboys will have 5 of their remaining 11 games against NFC East opponents. Odds makers after week 6 have the Dallas Cowboys at a hefty 13-1 to make it to the Super Bowl from the NFC. The Washington Redskins are a struggling football team sitting in last place in the NFC East and a 2-4 record. The strategy I have employed through the years when selecting at http://nflfreepicks.net is to take the Redskins when an underdog and to play against them when a favorite. The Redskins still play good defense as evidenced by the first six weeks of the season. The team has been embarrassed in dropping a week 6 game in front of the home folks to the winless Kansas City Chiefs and on the road to at the time to the winless Detroit Lions. The Redskins are struggling to score points on offense and in their loss to Kansas City benched starting quarterback Jason Campbell in favor of veteran backup Tom Collins. NFL betting odds makers have set the Washington Redskins as a heavy long shot of making the Super Bowl from the NFC at current 50-1 betting odds. If you need some help with your handicapping this NFL season a good source for you to research would be the work performed at NFL free picks where you will find NFL selections with full analysis.

2010 AFC Championship NFL Pro Football Odds Sports Betting Preview

The 2010 NFL AFC Championship odds have been set for the upcoming season. We will provide free picks throughout the NFL season for the sports betting public. Another site for resource for free picks from the NFL is http://freepicks.us. The New England Patriots have been listed at 2-1 odds on favorites to make it to the 2010 Super Bowl from the AFC. The Patriots will see the return of starting quarterback Tom Brady who missed most of the 2008 season with major knee surgery. The Patriots made the Super Bowl two season ago with Tom Brady leading the team to a perfect 17-0 regular season record. Coming in, as second favorite are the Pittsburgh Steelers who are currently set at 9-2 to make the 2010 Super Bowl. The Steelers are the defending Super Bowl Champions and return 21 of 22 starters back from their Super Bowl winning team. The Steelers finished the last regular season with a 12-4 record and faced a very tough schedule. The schedule is a bit easier for the Steelers and returns one of the best defenses in football. The San Diego Chargers check in at 6-1 in the NFL odds to make the 2010 Super Bowl. One of our free picks will be to take the San Diego Chargers to make the Super Bowl at these generous 6-1 odds. The Chargers sport a fantastic NFL quarterback in Phillip Rivers and their defense is much improved with defensive coordinator Ron Rivera playing a more aggressive style. Star linebacker Shawne Merriman is back for San Diego and so will their pass rush, which was missing a season ago. If you were looking for some free picks as long shots to make the Super Bowl a good play would be on the Baltimore Ravens at 9-1 odds. The Ravens return one of the best defenses in all of football. Quarterback Joe Flacco has a year under his belt and led the Ravens to a nice playoff run a year ago. Joe Flacco led the Ravens to 2 road playoff victories a year ago and was eliminated in the AFC Championship last year to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Ravens played three straight road playoff games so home field advantage would give the Ravens an edge. So with our two free picks to make it to the Super Bowl from the AFC this year would be the Baltimore Ravens and the San Diego Chargers. Be sure to check out the free picks posted at http://freepicks.us all NFL season long for sharp picks with full analysis.

2009 Super Bowl NFL Pro Football Odds Sports Betting Preview

The odds for the 2009 Super Bowl Winner are out and we will provide sports picks on a few of the teams we believe provide tremendous value in this NFL sports betting prop. The New England Patriots have been made the +400 favorites to win Super Bowl XLIV. A sports bettor may believe the Patriots are good sports picks to win it all considering the return of first-string quarterback Tom Brady to the team after missing 15 starts last season with major knee surgery. As the lead writer and handicapper at http://tonyspicks.com you can follow my sports picks all season. The New England Patriots are one of my sports picks to win it all. With backup Matt Cassell leading the team the 2008 New England Patriots sported an 11-5 regular season game and losing a tiebreaker to the Miami Dolphins to qualify for the NFL Playoffs. Tom Brady has all his offensive weapons back and many believe a good year for the Patriots this season. The 2009 Pittsburgh Steelers are +750 to win the Super Bowl as they return 21 of 22 starters from their 2008 Super Bowl winning team. The Steelers are hoping that their offensive line can give better protection to quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. The 2009 San Diego Chargers come in at +800 to win it all this season. The Chargers are hoping to get more pressure on the quarterback this season and the return of star linebacker Shawn Merriman will give the team a huge boost. Phillip Rivers is a proven elite quarterback in this league and has the full respect of his teammates after leading the team to numerous comeback victories and playing through injuries threw his short career. On the NFC side the Philadelphia Eagles are +800 favorites to win the Super Bowl. Michael Vick was acquired in the offseason giving the Eagles a big play threat in a possible wildcat formation. McNabb will have the services of Brian Westbrook once again and is hoping for a bonafide #1 receiver to break out this year. The 2007 Super Bowl Champions New York Giants are +900 to win the 2009 Super Bowl. Eli Manning will be without the services of big play wide receiver Plaxico Burress and he too like Donovan McNabb are hoping that one of his young wideouts can step up and become a bonavide #1 NFL type receiver that commands double teams from opposing secondaries. The New York Giants are another one of my sports picks to win the Super Bowl behind their good running game and great run defense and front line that creates sacks. The Minnesota Vikings acquired Bret Favre and will use him as their starting quarterback and this moved shot them up in the sports betting. The Minnesota Vikings are currently +1200 to win the Super Bowl after acquiring Bret Favre moving up from +1850 prior to Favre signing with the team.  I will be handicapping with plenty of sports picks all season long at http://tonyspicks.com so follow me this season. My two sports picks to win it all in 2009 would be the New England Patriots at +400 and the New York Giants at +900.
